Wow, what a great story! I live in Germany now, but I was born in Alton, Illinois, and lived in St. Louis for a while, so the Cardinals and Native culture took me down memory lane lol. This piece deserves a spotlight! Deeply emotional and full of references that feel so real and lived. Thanks again for sharing this story with us!
Thanks R.A. really glad you enjoyed it. St. Louis is like a second home with deep ties for me and my family. I thought these stories were worth sharing. My feeling is that there’s people who are made to be characters, and others who are made to tell those characters’ stories. That’s the symbiotic relationship. So I try to due them justice without pouring on a giant heap of bias sugar on top
This is giving Field of Dreams vibes. A great Father's Day tribute.
Thanks Paul! Field of Dreams, huh? I’ll take that for sure!
High praise indeed! If you don’t cry at the end of that you most likely have no soul.

You walk among legends, Jon Murphy. And your writing is a gift to their legacy. Thanks so much for sharing these.
Great stories Jon, loved reading them
We need her reply!!!! Also, God did not save that young girl, Ray Maragni did! (Insert series of Chuck Norris-esque stories of Ray).
Seriously though, I had a similar grandpa. Through me footballs in his yard. Loved all of this.
